02 · The Technology

PEMF — pulsed electromagnetic field therapy — delivers low-frequency electromagnetic pulses to the body through a coil, disc, or mat placed near (not on) the skin. The pulses pass painlessly through clothing, fascia, muscle, and bone without producing heat or a burn.

The technology is neither new nor fringe. PEMF has held FDA clearance for the treatment of non-union fractures since 1979, with additional clearances over the years for adjunctive use in cervical fusion and for post-operative pain and edema. What makes it interesting in fascial medicine is that the same mechanism that helps a broken bone knit also helps inflamed soft tissue, swollen joints, and chronically restricted fascia behave better.

03 · Read This Before You Shop

The consumer PEMF market is crowded, and the mats sold online for a few hundred dollars are a fundamentally different category of device from what we use in clinic. The difference is output, and output determines depth.

Low-intensity devices operate at microtesla (µT) or low-milligauss levels. They are designed to gently mimic earth-frequency signals for sleep and general cellular balance. They are pleasant and inexpensive, but they do not deliver a field strong enough to meaningfully reach a deep joint or a dense fascial plane.

High-powered devices deliver millitesla (mT) or high-Gauss output — in some settings, hundreds to thousands of Gauss. You feel a physical pulsing sensation. That intensity is what allows the field to penetrate into joint spaces, muscle bellies, and dense connective structures. This is the category the Magnus Pro systems belong to, and it is the category we recommend for anyone treating an actual musculoskeletal problem rather than pursuing general wellness.

Four models, distinguished by two things. X1 vs. X2 is the number of output channels — an X1 drives one delivery accessory at a time, an X2 drives two, so you can treat both knees, or a hip and a low back, in the same session. MP vs. HP is the manufacturer’s mid-power and high-power platform designation — the HP units carry substantially heavier hardware, which is where the additional output comes from. All four run variable frequency and intensity settings 1–9 with 5-, 10-, and 30-minute preset timers. Confirm exact output specifications with Magnus at the time of quote.

The device generates the field; the accessory decides where it goes. Most patients buy one or two applicators matched to their actual problem rather than the full set. If you are unsure, tell us where your symptoms live and we will tell you which applicator we would use in clinic for that region.

07 · Ownership

3-Year Factory Warranty

Every Magnus Pro device is warrantied by the manufacturer, PEMF Systems, Inc., to operate properly for three years from the date of the original purchase invoice.

Optional 7-Year Extended

An optional Extended Limited Warranty caps your out-of-pocket maintenance and repair cost at $750 in any given year after the 3-year factory period expires. It does not cover loops, discs, power cords, or accessories, and it is not transferable if you sell the device.

Loaner Program

If your device needs service, Magnus provides a loaner at no cost within the first six months of ownership, and for a small daily fee after that, based on the age of the device. Repairs are submitted through the manufacturer’s website portal.

Delivery loops, Mag Discs, and Mag Mats carry a 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects from the date of delivery.

08 · Before You Buy

PEMF has one of the strongest long-term safety profiles in physical medicine. That said, it generates an electromagnetic field, which means a small number of conditions require either avoidance or careful screening. Please review this list before purchasing a device — and if anything here applies to you, talk to us first.

Avoid Treating Over
